UNC SERVES Materials

In October 2010, then-President Erskine Bowles convened the UNC SERVES working group to determine what the University could reasonably do to improve access to, retention and graduation of active service member and veteran students. The UNC SERVES Working Group recommended institutional, systemwide, and state/federal statutory policy changes, regulations and/or guidelines and best practices to improve access, retention and graduation of active service members, veterans and their families on UNC campuses.

UNC Board of Governors Special Committee on Military Affairs

The Special Committee on Military Affairs is charged with receiving regular updates on the University’s progress toward increasing military-affiliated student enrollment, coordinating with the President and Ed Planning Committee to review the progress on the implementation of the military student success policy, recommending state and federal legislative policy to the President and the Committee on Public Affairs, assisting President Ross in seeking external funding for UNC system-wide defense and security research, and working with President Ross and Academic Affairs to inform the Ed Planning Committee on opportunities for UNC to improve military student success.
