Residency

UNC campus in-state tuition rates are among the lowest in the country. If seeking to be classified as a resident for tuition purposes you must have lived in North Carolina for at least one calendar year AND demonstrate intent to maintain permanent legal residence in North Carolina. Active duty service members permanently stationed in North Carolina are considered in-state for tuition purposes. Veterans, spouses and dependents of veterans, and other eligible individuals using Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33), Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30), or the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship are eligible for in-state tuition. You can get more detailed information on residency requirements here.
