The University of North Carolina (UNC) system will host a 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing (AM) competition, sponsored by the U.S. Army Research Office (ARO). This event will be a dynamic design competition where military personnel and selected UNC and FTCC students will form teams to design and build concept and prototype items for potential military applications.
The registration page (see link below) is limited to invited users from the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) at Ft. Bragg, NC, invited students from UNC and FTCC campuses, and other invited Department of Defense and industry representatives. UNC students from campuses outside the Fayetteville area will be provided with travel funding, including vehicle mileage and lodging at a local hotel (up to two nights). Meals also will be provided.
The Army Research Office (ARO), a division of Army Research Laboratory (ARL), seeks to assess, convey, and advance capabilities surrounding 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing (hereafter referred to as “AM”) for the benefit of the Army (broadly) and of the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC).
