The University of North Carolina is committed to encouraging research and providing opportunities for students. Through the Partnership for National Security we have identified ways for students to do research with practical, real-world applications, partnering with a variety of agencies and organizations to provide research, scholarship, and internship opportunities for UNC students.
In the spring of 2002, in response to the growing prevalence and importance of undergraduate research, UNC General Administration formed the UNC Undergraduate Research Consortium (URC). The consortium includes representatives from the constituent UNC institutions, working together to identify, recommend, and implement activities that expand research opportunities for undergraduate students. The mission of this inter-institutional, statewide consortium is to support and promote high-quality undergraduate research, creative work, and inquiry-based learning in all fields of study with the support of faculty and other mentors.
